Jesse Arms Botke was born at Chicago in1886. She attended art school there and studied in New York and Europe. Settling in New York, she became a designer of tapestries and murals. After marrying Cornelius Botke, she moved to Chicago and designed murals for the University of Chicago and several well known companies. The mural design work spilled over into her wildlife paintings. She painted in oils, watercolor and gouashe. In about 1920 they moved to southern California and were active in local arts groups. Mrs. Botke died in 1971, leaving a marvelous legacy of beautiful, decorative art!
